Isaac was Abraham’s only son whom he loved. God called him to sacrifice Isaac. But the point isn’t simply that we should obey God no matter what. The point is that there’s a debt of sin that every family owes to God. But God provides a substitute to pay that debt himself. This is what allows us to trust God when he asks us to sacrifice the things we love and trust in, for his glory.
