Sinopsis
As Christians we are often surprised by grief or loss. Our understanding of “all things work together for good” is that my suffering will be minimal and if I do go through intense suffering I will have a full recovery shortly thereafter much like Job or Joseph. So when we have a permanent loss whether it be financial loss, failure of a relationship, injury or illness, death of a loved one, or a prodigal child, our faith is shaken, we wonder if we are being disciplined/punished for some sin in our past, and we drift away from the God we thought we loved. The goal of this session is to first identify the wrong theology and expectations that we bring to grief, loss and suffering and understand how they make the suffering even more difficult. Then we will learn how to cry out (yes complain, lament) to God and go on to find peace and hope in the middle of that grief in the arms of our Savior.
