* This episode was archived June 2019 and is only available for subscribers I talk about Paul Allen who founded Microsoft with Bill Gates in the 1970s and later went on to become an investor, philanthropist and sports owner and who died yesterday 15th October 2018 after his latest battle with cancer at age 65. Mr Allen died just two weeks after publicly revealing that non-Hodgkin's lymphoma he fought into remission nine years ago had returned. The incurable cancer affects white blood cells. His Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates said: "I am heartbroken by the passing of one of my oldest and dearest friends... Personal computing would not have existed without him." So in this podcast Sam talks about how Mr Allen was one of the worlds richest men but died having never married and never having children living some would say like a recluse. He spent a lot of his money holding Gatsby like parties and buying football teams, basketball teams, superyachts and cars and planes etc but he was never one for being the cente
