He was dyslexic and as a child sold paraffin off the back of a lorry He later Worked for a jeweler dealer before opening up a jeweler and pawn shop in Birmingham selling stolen goods before being muscled out by local gangs. He took the business model and applied it to Bristol running a successful business He smelted down the gold bars in his shed from the Brinks mat bank robbery £25 million pounds sterling in 1983 of gold bullion was stolen from a cargo storage area. Worth about £500 million in todays value. He admitted this in court. He still was acquitted. He used some of that money to set himself up in Tenerife where he ran a fraudulent time share business where there was 14,000-20,000 victims of the fraud. If you owned a time share already they would sell your one at a profit if you bought a second time share from Palmer.

Wealth or the appearance of wealth can be an illusion, here today gone tomorrow Bernie Madoff had all the appearance of vast wealth and success but in truth he had nothing and was a fraud. He was responsible for the biggest Ponzi scheme in history and his actions led to thousands of investors losing a lot of money. What you had Madoff as a client or one his investors as a client. All very rich people one day, the next nothing. So make sure you don't get fooled by appearance of wealth or even actual real wealth.
