Episode 57: The Judge of Compassion - Kim BurkeAs Drug Court judge, Judge Kim Burke has provided a second chance to over 2,200 graduates suffering from substance abuse issues including me.  Judge Burke has been Hamilton County's drug court judge since 2001. Established in 1995, Hamilton County has the first and only full-time drug court in the state of Ohio, and one of the oldest drug courts in the United States.Judge Kim Burke has spent time as a faculty member of the National Judicial College where she taught a course to fellow judges on substance abuse issues. She was also appointed to be a member of the Supreme Court of Ohio Advisory Committee on Specialized Dockets, where she helped create standards for Ohio judges who wish to create or preside over a drug, mental health, DUI, or other type of treatment court.   Prior to her time as the Drug Court judge, Judge Kim Burke was a judge on the Hamilton County Municipal Court and a magistrate in Hamilton County Juvenile Court.
