Sinopsis
Domecast, The News & Observer’s weekly podcast on government and politics in North Carolina, is ready for the long Memorial Day weekend. The N.C. House unveiled pieces of its budget this week, setting up differences with the Senate on food-stamps eligibility, the Governor’s School and more. Parts of the state Senate budget drew attention, including proposed pay raises for a handful of judges. The U.S. Supreme Court upheld a lower court’s ruling that forced North Carolina congressional districts to be redrawn ahead of last year’s election. Our reporter panel talks about that news while also explaining whether a North Carolina congressman really cried over the health care bill (he didn’t) and whether legislators are really chugging milk in their milk-chugging contest. And we pick a Headliner of the Week. Jordan Schrader of The News & Observer hosts, with Lynn Bonner, Colin Campbell, Will Doran and Craig Jarvis of the N&O. Learn more about your ad choices.
