Matthew 5:1-5 portrays an intimate teaching setting between Jesus and His disciples, in which He begins to unpack the path to submission and intimacy with Him, by coming to terms with our need, mourning the loss of all we hoped would fulfill it, and coming under the umbrella of Christ's mission.
