We were on Day Three of a multi-day backpacking trip, and this friend was at something of a crossroads in his spiritual life.                 Good talks often happen no the trail and I was listening to him express doubts and wonderings about life and God.                 When there was a silence I took the opportunity to ask a question that I hoped would help bring some clarity.
