For thousands of years, a priest could only come into God’s presence one day a year. Through Jesus, we can come into His presence whenever we wish. What an honor! I think we take prayer for granted. I know I do. It’s easy, right? Both prayer and taking it for granted. We can “throw one up” on the way into work or right before a big test. Some families sing a rhyming prayer before dinner. It’s just, well, prayer, right? Only it isn’t. Prayer is a spiritual act of coming into the presence of God. For thousands of years, only one person could come before the presence of God: The High Priest. Not just any priest. The High Priest. He was the only one. And he couldn’t do it whenever he wanted. It only happened on one specific day every year. On the Day of Atonement, the High Priest would enter the Holy of Holies, the presence of God. Yet, when Jesus died on the cross, the veil in the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. It was a picture. This veil concealed the Holy of Holies. And when Jesus was on the cross,
