The Melchizedek Priesthood rules in the government of God. It includes the roles of king, priest and firstborn. Esau was originally in line to become the next Melchizedek priest. However, because he did not value this role, he sold this birthright and role to Jacob. Since then Esau has been trying to take this position back by force.
