In this teaching segment, we examine the deeper spiritual meaning of the Hebrew letter nun. Nun represents a fish. The fish was a first century Christian symbol. Psalm 145 is an acrostic and each verse begins with a Hebrew letter of the alphabet in sequential order. There are 21 verses in Psalm 145, but there are 22 letters in the Hebrew alphabet. The letter nun is missing from the acrostic. Why? The 14th verse of this Psalm should begin with the letter nun, but the Psalm skips this letter and instead begins with samech, which denotes “support of the fallen.” The Sages explain that since the nun connotes nefila (נפילה), ‘falling,’ it was omitted. With this in mind, consider what verse 14 says: The LORD upholds all that fall, and raises up all those that be bowed down.Psalm 145:14 The omission of the verse beginning with nun suggest that when we fall, Yeshua will erase the record of our sins and lift us up!
