Did Yeshua teach that you should follow the Pharisees, which means follow rabbinic Judaism? (See Matthew 23: 1-3). In the Shemtov Hebrew book of Matthew, the rendering of Matthew 23:3 is as follows: Yeshua is saying, “You are to do what Moses said, NOT according to Pharisaic interpretations, or the Oral law (Talmud) on how to follow the Torah.” In the first century there was a Sanhedrin, and they made determination and announcement of the New Moon and to sanctify it. Originally, when the court would sanctify the New Moon, they would send messengers to light bonfires on the mountain tops to notify the people in distant places. The sun and the moon are given for signs and seasons. (Gen. 1: 14, 16) The moon was given to help us to determine when to celebrate and keep the Feasts.
