And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete: Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD. Leviticus 23:15-16 Shavuot is 50 days following the Festival of Firstfruits. It is also known as Pentecost. The Hebrew word and meaning for “sheaf” in the verse above is “omer”. Passover concludes with Shavuot, and the 49 day counting of the omer is what connects these two feasts. After you complete the counting of the omer to the 49th day, the next day is the celebration of Shavuot/Pentecost.
