In this session, we focus on: *The 1967 six day war *The 1973 Yom Kippur war *The Gaza strip eviction of August 2005 We look at the origins of the PLO, founded in 1964 in Cairo Egypt, and their founding document of 1964 which states: *It rejects the Balfour declaration of 1917 *It rejects the UN Partition plan of 1947 *The Jews biblical claims to the land *Denies the right of the Jewish people to have a nation *Insists that ALL of the territory currently occupied by the Jewish people belongs to the Palestinians *Its goal and intent is to “liberate” Palestine, does not recognize the state of Israel to exist. After the defeat of the Arabs in the Arab/Israeli Yom Kippur war of 1973, the PLO came up with a new strategy for the Palestinians. The PLO decided that it is acceptable to get rid of Israel in “stages” and the means for doing this is “trading land for peace”.
