Barry Barnes is arguably the most successful Boomers coach ever. With a record of 119 wins and 53 losses as head coach, an outstanding 69% win percentage, and having led the national team to two fourth-place finishes (1996 and 2000) his resume is hard to beat. Barry became a Boomers assistant coach under coach Adrian Hurley in 1985, joining the team at the 1988 and 1992 Olympic games before being elevated to head coach in 1993 where he would become the program's first full-time head coach. Barnes was head coach of the National Men’s Team from 1993-2000 leading the team in two Olympics (1996 & 2000) and two FIBA World Championships (1994 & 1998).
