My guest this week is the founder and Chairman of the Mises Institute, Lew Rockwell. In 1990, Lew wrote a historic manifesto called, "The Case for Paleo- Libertarianism". This was a case to denounce the culturally leftist instincts of mainstream libertarianism and make the case that liberty thrives much better in a culturally conservative setting. Within the pages of the famed "Rothbard-Rockwell Report", the case was made to cut ties with the Libertarian Party and to back presidential candidate Patrick Buchanan. The political climate of the day was one that saw a mainstream conservative candidate who was an anti-interventionist and not afraid to call out the dangers of politically correct culture. Seeing that as an option and the libertine/leftist/atheist leanings of the Libertarian Party gave Murray Rothbard and Lew Rockwell cause to align with the Buchanan campaign and denounce the LP.
