Sinopsis
Welcome to the Americhicks WWII Project podcast. Kim Monson is your host. Initially Bill enlisted in the Marines but was turned away for being color blind. He then enlisted in the Army in 1942 and became a paratrooper. He was assigned to I Company pf the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment. Bill was trained in Toccoa, Georgia as a .30 calibure light machine gunner. His parachute training took place at Fort Benning where he earned his parachute wings. On June 4th 1944 Bill jumped into Normandy. His company was accidently dropped wrongly and ended up near Saint-Come-du-Mont. He later joined the fighting in an area known as "Hell's Corner". On June 13th he was part of the "battle for Bloddy Gully". His story is fascinating.
