Welcome to the Americhicks WWII Project podcast. Kim Monson is your host. Today Kim speaks with retired Chief Master Sergeant. Facing the draft Lorene choose instead to enlist in the Air Force. Lorene decided on the Air Force because that branch of the service was integrated. Being an African America Lorene of course would rather have been in an integrated service. Loran Smith is a second generation Tuskegee Airman a Korean and Vietnam Veteran. Loran joined the Air Force in 1952.
