“After this, when Jesus knew that everything was now finished that the Scripture might be fulfilled, he said, “I’m thirsty.” A jar full of sour wine was sitting there; so they fixed a sponge full of sour wine on a hyssop branch and held it up to his mouth. When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, “It is finished.” Then bowing his head, he gave up his spirit.” John 19:28-30 CSB . The sour wine was what the soldiers drank while they were waiting for the person to die. . Jesus receiving the sour wine fulfilled scripture. . “My strength is dried up like baked clay; my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth. You put me into the dust of death.” Psalms 22:15 CSB . Finished -Before Jesus there had to be a priest to atone for the sin. Jesus was the final atonement for all of our sins. The system ended with Jesus. He paid in FULL. The full penalty for our sins which was death. The veil was torn giving us access to him both now and forever. . He bowed- He humbled himself to the point of death. Lai
