The World Wildlife Fund South Africa has published a report on the impact of the pandemic on recycling and the waste sector in South Africa. Under lockdown, informal waste pickers were particularly hard-hit while cheaper virgin plastic, due to lower oil prices, also dealt a blow to recycling efforts, according to the report.
