Sinopsis

In America alone, there are about 25 million human bites that occur each year. We will not only discuss human bites but also dog bites, some cute cat bites and other unusual bites you might encounter in the emergency room. In this episode, we will talk about how to deal with human bites. Whether you only need to give local wound care versus when to consult a surgical team and/or when to use antibiotics.  Next is the difference between a dog bite and a cat bite such as the infection rate between the two, what kind of closure your patient will need and what kind of antibiotics to prescribe. Once a history and physical is performed for your patient, that will also determine the course of action.   - We just put together a brand new course for primary care clinicians, which we're looking to give away for free! If you're a PA or NP working primary care (you can't be a student) and are willing to give us feedback on the material, here's how you can get full access to this free course: https://www.medgeeksmentorship
