Privately-run inpatient mental health centres offer a better level of care than HSE-run facilities. That’s according to the Mental Health Commission’s 2021 Annual Report, which found that significant investment is required into HSE-run inpatient services to ensure all people, regardless of their financial means, have access to a similar standard of care. Emma O’Sullivan has been struggling with an eating disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) for a decade and is now crowdfunding to try to afford private inpatient care. Emma spoke to Johnathan this morning on the show.
