According Jesus' own words, only those who pass through the "narrow gate" will have eternal life. In fact, anyone who does not pass through it but rather crosses along the wide path will be brought to destruction. But when we realize that Jesus himself is God's narrow gate, the only way that men can be made righteous and be saved, we must make a choice to surrender our lives to him.
