New York City FC had to go to overtime and a penalty kick shootout before defeating the Portland Timbers to win its first Major League Soccer title, the first championship for a New York team since 2011. NYCFC goalkeeper Sean Johnson stopped two Portland penalty kicks. Zach Parise scored a shorthanded goal -- his first goal for the New York Islanders -- to give the Isles a 3-2 lead on the way to a 4-2 victory over the New Jersey Devils on Saturday.
