  • See How They Fly

    17/12/2019

Episode 9's title is “See How They Fly” is taken from a lyric in The Beatles classic "I Am The Walrus."  The episode not only uses the cover of the song by Spooky Tooth as ending credits, but many of the lyrics are incorporated as visual elements within the episode!   Make sure you again check out the (final?) Peteypedia Pages to get some extended story that wasn't present in the episode and, Boy, is this week's entry pretty hilarious!  Follow us on Twitter @nerdcyclopedia, leave us feedback at watchingwatchmen@nerdcyclopedia.com and we'll try to get that read on the podcast!  Join our facebook group Sam and Scott are Watching Watchmen and visit our website www.nerdcyclopedia.com!

  • A God Walks Into Abar

    10/12/2019

Episode 7's title is “A God Walks Into Abar” and came from a happenstance, according to director Nicole Kessell. They had given Angela the surname "Abar" early in development. Later, as they were storyboarding episodes, Kassell had saw one of the writers had put down "...walks into a bar..." as a concept for this episode, and on seeing that, realized the serendipitous nature of the Abar name.  Amazing!  Make sure you again check out the latest in the Peteypedia Pages of extended material that answer a lot of questions that weren't answered directly in the episode and expands on the VERY detailed world building this show is doing!

  • An Almost Religious Awe

    03/12/2019

Episode 7's title is “An Almost Religious Awe,” refers to a line from the graphic novel where Manhattan narrates that many North Vietnamese wanted to surrender directly and personally to him, “their terror of me balanced by an almost religious awe.”  Make sure you again check out the latest in the Peteypedia Pages of extended material that answer a lot of questions that weren't answered directly in the episode and expands on the VERY detailed world building this show is doing!

  • If You Don't Like My Story, Write Your Own

    12/11/2019

Episode 4's title is “If You Don't Like My Story, Write Your Own,” and it's a nod to Nigerian author Chinua Achebe's 1958 novel Things Fall Apart, which also happens to be the book Cal (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), the husband of Angela Abar (Regina King), is seen reading in the episode.  It also serves as a double meaning for creator Damon Lindelof and co-creator of Lost who made a very divisive ending to that series where he probably wished at the time he could tell half the audience to write their own story since they didn't like how it ended.  Make sure you again check out the latest in the Peteypedia Pages of extended material that answer a lot of questions that weren't answered directly in the episode and expands on the VERY detailed world building this show is doing!  Follow us on Twitter @nerdcyclopedia, leave us feedback at watchingwatchmen@nerdcyclopedia.com and we'll try to get that read on the podcast!  Join our facebook group Sam and Scott are Watching Watchmen and visit our websit

  • Look On My Works, Ye Mighty…

    10/09/2019

This penultimate chapter focuses on Adrian Veidt – Ozymandias.  Detached from humanity, his only kinship with a king, Alexander of Macedon, who died over 2300 years earlier, Veidt is a singular being.  His admiration for the lateral thinking of Alexander, with the ancient king’s solution of simply cutting the Gordian Knot, is second to none and has fueled aspirations to solve his own Gordian Knot – the policy of Mutually Assured Destruction was a “knot to try even Alexander’s ingenuity.” Rorschach and Nite Owl go to confront him about his unbelievable plan. • Two Riders Were Approaching...

    14/08/2019

Chapter 10's title, "Two Riders Were Approaching," is a reference to Bob Dylan's 1967 song "All Along the Watchtower," made iconic by Jimi Hendrix's 1968 cover version. The song, which is also quoted at the end of the chapter, tells of a conversation between a "joker" and a "thief" about an unnamed, impending catastrophe. The joker is panicking, looking for "some way to get out of here," and the thief attempts to calm him. The song takes on symbolic meaning when applied to the characters and plot of Watchmen. The joker is the Comedian, who goes into a downward spiral when he realizes what the thief, Adrian Veidt, is planning.
