Syncing Up

Matt and Ethan are back for some reason! We're talking tech (what should a post-twitter social network look like? what is up with this new one Post? what is amazing about Gab!) we're talking sports (is it a liberal psy-op??) and we're talking I dunno other shit. It's the first Syncing Up for like a year and there is no explanation for the gap! Soak it up pals!

Doth your feed deceive you!?!? NO! Syncing Up is back! Matt and Ethan couldn't let this massive week in the tech media world go by without arguing about whatever the fuck bullshit they go on about! Matt gives his solution to the Facebook Crisis and Ethan "Substack" Strauss fishes for compliments AND GETS THEM!!! Its just the kind of jam packed episode our now long dead fans have been clamoring for!!

The Great Deplatforming has occurred and Matt and Ethan can't help but argue about it. Can Matt convince Ethan this is actually good for BOTH SIDES of the argument? Can Ethan convince Matt he's an unwitting pawn in a neoliberal cabal? Will they finally solve everything or is all this just a futile expression of ashkenazi interruption culture?

The boys take a tour of the HOTTEST new social networks on the planet Gab and Parler. Plus they argue about censorship and argue even more about tech's impact on the 2020 election. As President Obama would say "Stop The Steal!"

Twitter and Facebook block a story and become the editors we've known they are all along! Antitrust is on the ballot! And Matt and Ethan get into it over the whole NBA Finals ratings thing! The boys are back and give no discernible explanation for being gone for so long nor do they give any explanation for the cadence of new episodes in the future! It's a new Syncing Up!!

The boys talk Red Pills, act in a manner offensive to vaguely eastern European people and Ethan tells the tale of his time at Yelp.

The boys get into it over fraud and the media and tech and media and fraud and media and tech and tech and tech and also media. Plus a great song!

Matt and Ethan are BACK! Ethan talks about his new book "The Victory Machine," Matt talks about BUILDING and both of them desperately search for meaning.

Matt explains what the hell is going on with Andrew Yang and 4chan and why it's important. Ethan puts forth his micro-generation theory. There are also rants about age gating the internet and Facebook's new plan to ruin messaging like they did the internet.

Matt and Ethan are back to talk about the bombshell Verge report on moderation at Facebook, another take on moderation from SlateStarCodex, why maybe all this mod is just showing us the internet is being organized wrong and some observations about Bay Area Billionaires from Ethan's latest reporting piece.

Ethan had quite a week! Matt talks to him about how it felt to be the center of NBA news for a cycle and if that's the sort of thing humans are meant to handle. The guys then define "Platform Cucks," talk about how people like sports because they are metaphors for life and get a little bit into psychedelics but not enough that cops should be worried.
