No More Noise! Advocacy by Ingrid Bouday so important to QOL
12/10/2026 Duración: 29minWhat is the effect of noise on your life? We now know hearing loss can contribute to Alzheimer’s disease.Ingrid Bouday joins me in conversation about quiet, silence and noise; specifically human made noise both persistent and punctuations in our day. Her group "No More Noise" advocates for healthier, calmer, quieter communities. The focus has been Toronto, but it now operates on a global platform. Recently Ingrid was invited to the UN in Geneva to contribute to dialogue on 'beyond" the safety sounds of EVs. Auto manufacturers want to install branded sounds in future vehicles and No More Noise naturally wants to halt this additional load on our sound environment.

Problems on Pandora and elsewhere addressed by Themis Security
10/10/2026 Duración: 28minPandora's 900 block (and more) is ground zero for violence, homelessness, drugs, and anti-social behaviour. VicPD is obviously involved in quelling the volume, but others are also putting an effort in to make it safer for everyone. Collaboration with so many is the only way to damp the unrest.Meet Mirko Filipovic of Themis Security. He and his team are visible, active and pro-active. They manage the main tourist shopping precinct of Government Street too. I hadn't talked with Mirko for a decade. It was good to have a frank conversation about how he and Themis are involved in making Victoria a better place to live, work, play... and retire.

Learn about regenerative processes from Louis De Jaeger
18/06/2026 Duración: 30minA total treat to connect with eco-thought leader Louis De Jaeger. Listen along a Louis shares his experiences encouraging a food forest to take root in one of the harshest landscapes: a coastal dune system. Active, passionate, enthusiastic, Louis is inspirational!

Visiting Victoria Classic Lingerie to talk about comfort
17/06/2026 Duración: 29minCan you imagine wearing an undergarment that does fit? Apparently, few people ever take the time or make the effort to ensure the bra you wear is for you.Though this is a visit with a specific provisioner in Victoria the situation is countrywide and global. And my guest on this episode, Charlotte, reminds us that our bodies change over time. We also discuss care and cleaning of undergarments to maintain freshness and longevity. Charlotte wants us to eschew fast-fashion and consider quality. The last thing we need to do too is to have drawers full of uncomfortable, unwearable clothing that often just ends up in landfill.

Esquimalt High School's Culinary program is exceptional
11/06/2026 Duración: 28min"Yes, Chef!" certainly rings out as acknowledgement in the kitchen and prep area at Esquimalt High School. Brandon Aris has been guiding the culinary program here for 15 years. Students learn food safety, knife skills, programing and planning, and how to turn ingredients into a meal. From basics and essentials they move into presentation and plating: we eat with our eyes first!I encountered Chef Aris at Rainbow Kitchen during one of their community events and sat back and watched the team of young people confidently go about serving a crowd. I think you will find this conversation inspiring. Apologies for some electronic interference, but it is generally quite short and not overly distracting.
