    Michelle is the current President of the North Bay Astronomy Club, a community based organization dedicated to making astronomy interesting and fun for everybody. The club hosts a variety of activities that include monthly meetings, community star parties, public education, and recreational star gazing. This is a group exhibition by sixteen 2SLGBTQSIA artists who participated in the Queer Up North artist residency in Temagami, ON, in August 2024. The reception will be Saturday, January 11 from 7 to 9 pm, and will include opening remarks by curators James Fowler and Pearl Van Geest. This instalment of Wild Waysides, a series of exhibitions and symposiums addressing ideas and provocations of queer ecologies, features a selection of the artworks created in response to Queer Up North, an artist residency held in Temagami, August 2024. The exhibition will run at the gallery space from January 11 to March 15, 2025. Through her own journey of physical healing, Jill uncovered the profound influence of the mind on overall well-being, transitioning from feeling like a victim of circumstances to realizing her potential as a creator of her life. With over 25 years of experience as an elementary school teacher and a mother of four, Jill recognized the importance of addressing children's social and emotional needs. She became very aware that her personal growth was directly related to her ability to teach her students, work effectively with colleagues as well as be more effective as a mother and wife.  Jill discovered and became immersed in Nonviolent Communication, integrating its principles into her roles as a teacher, counsellor, and family member.     For episode 55 I connect with Jeffrey and Tammy to talk about The Voyageur 200! It is a full day, 60, 100 or 200 km gravel cycling adventure in and around North Bay Ontario. You will see beautiful lakes and streams, trees, rocks and with some luck some amazing wildlife.  The ride is organized by local cyclist and stroke survivor, Jeff Miller in partnership with Discovery Routes and a community of volunteers eager to see the ride grow. Its mission in supporting the NBRHCF is to raise awareness around a heart and stroke disorder called Aphasia (www.aphasia.ca) through a love of bikes and endurance sport. With the first year a resounding success, the organizers are aiming high, hoping to attract over 150 riders to this year’s event with a set fundraising goal of $6000.     In episode 45, I talk with Gerardo Selva-Godoy about his experience becoming a potter who has been awarded the Costa Rican National Award for the Arts in 2012 and 2020. Nicaraguan born and now a Costa Rican citizen since 1978, Gerardo has written/produced more than 20 plays for high school and grammar school. As a singer-songwriter he has recorded 40 original songs. As a glass artist you can view his work in the 20th century glass collection of the Corning Museum. Gerardo has published two novels, written and directed three feature films: “Chirripó” (2000), “You are not in my shoes” (2009) and “A University Week”.
