The gang tries a change of pace episode after a successful podcast of The 33 featuring a visit by Lou Diamond Phillips. In this week's episode each member picks one scene from a movie that had an impact on them and will tell us why they chose it. A robust discussion of their pick will follow. Tonight Lou Diamond Phillips joins the gang to discuss his pick...2015's The 33. The story of the 33 Chilean miners trapped in a collapsed mine for 69 days in 2010. This was an uplifting story of family, faith and perseverance. Lou, who co-starred in the movie with a truly International cast, offers a unique insight into the making of the film. The gang also gets a chance to discuss Lou's career. Sit back and enjoy and try not to ask about La Bamba.

Do you pick your feet in Poughkeepsie?". That question kicks off our review of Ralph's pick...1971's The French Connection. This Best Picture winner is gritty crime drama that stars Gene Hackman in his Academy Award winning performance as Popeye Doyle and co-stars Roy Scheider. Directed by William Friedkin and shot documentary style and features one of the best car chases ever. Let's see what the gang thinks.

Adventure has a name and it's Indiana Jones!" Tonight the gang discusses John's pick of the 1981 blockbuster Raiders of the Lost Ark. Directed by Steven Spielberg produced by George Lucas and starring Harrison Ford and Karen Allen it is a non-stop roller coaster ride of action. Is it really that good or just an excuse for John to wear his Indy costume? Listen and find out.

"My name's Max"...with those words the gang discusses the post-apocalyptic remake, reboot, redo, Mad Max Fury Road. How does it stack against the Mel Gibson classics? It's a good start with George Miller directing and starring Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron. You know with Miller directing it will be a practical stunt extravaganza. What you see is what you get. So let's see what we get.

In today's episode the gang goes indie with 2006's Little Miss Sunshine. A stellar cast that includes an amazing performance by 10 year Abigail Breslin and an Academy Award winning performance by Alan Arkin. It has everything. Road trip, dead bodies in the trunk, dysfunction and of course beauty pageants. Will it be crowned a winner? Listen and find out.

Why does everyone hate the 2013 film, the Counselor. That is the question Ralph asks the group, and the group lets him have it. BTW, Ralph loves the film and does his best to defend it. It did not go well for him.

There's a million stories in the City of Angels and tonight the gang discusses one of them. Tonight's fim is 1997's L.A. Confidential. This film noir classic was directed by Curtis Hanson and includes powerhouse performances by Russell Crowe, Guy Pierce, Keving Spacey and in her Oscar winning performance Kim Basinger. Was it tough to watch in today's current environment? Was the gang able to watch Kevin Spacey's performance without thinking about....? Does Ralph have any idea what the word "precient" means? These questions and more will be answered in tonight's episode: "The case for justice".

Look up in the sky, it's a bird, it's a plane, no it's Superman The Movie. Although small in number the gang takes a look at 1978's Superman The Movie. Does the hopeful message still hold up in today's times? Do the effects? Does the rousing John Williams score? What about Christopher Reeves performance as Superman and Clark Kent? How does it compare to the comic book CGI blockbusters of the last 20 years? Ralph, Sean and John discuss all these questions and more. Up, Up and Away!!

Bond...James Bond. With those words the gang tackles Sean's pick, the classic Bond film, 1964's Goldfinger. Gadgets, girls, a great villain, classic henchmen and Sean Connery. Does it hold up and how does it compare to the contemporary versions with Daniel Craig? Will Ralph put aside his wokeness and embrace the 1960's vibe? We also get a female perspective when Sean's wife Debbie joins the group. "Do you expect me to talk?" "No Mr. Bond, I expect you to die." Classic!

The lock downs continue but the movie reviews go on. In today's episode the gang discusses Wojo's pick...1994's The Hudsucker Proxy. It was directed by Joel and Ethan Coen starring Tim Robbins, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Paul Newman. Is it an homage to the 1930's screwball comedies, a visually stunning masterpiece, a hilarious side splitting comedy or something else entirely? Join us and find out and you know..."for kids"...or is it?

Fighting through the pandemic in isolation doesn't stop the gang as they continue their conversations around movies. Today's film is 1951's Sci-Fi classic...The Thing From Another World. This is not the gore fest of 1982, the John Carpenter version, but it is a tense, character driven, pre-curser to Aliens, that even includes a "walking carrot". With no millennial's on the panel it will be interesting to get the more "experienced" opinions from the group. Can John justify it's designation as a "classic"? Will Ralph explain the nuances of acting in the 1950's? Will Sean and Debbie highlight the meaning of a coffee pot? Will WoJo embrace the fine ensemble that brought this thriller to life.? The gang slams on the gas and burns some zoom rubber as they travel back to 1977 to witness the Bandit and Snowman's epic Coor's beer run in the blockbuster "Smokey and the Bandit". Watch as Ralph crushes hard on Reynold's slick smile and his hot black Pontiac Trans Am. Will this redneck classic earn the coveted unanimous Yippee-ki-yay? Tune in to find out!

The group is back and keeping it COVID free with another installment in our Pandemic series. Joining the gang this week is Millennial superstar Darcy and John (I’m really Gen X unlike Ralph) Q, to discuss Darcy’s (and Al Gore’s) favorite global warming film, “Waterworld.” Starring Kevin Costner (Stacey’s Knights) and Dennis Hopper (The American Dreamer), this mad maxian affair is ripe for reevaluation as we approach its silver anniversary.

After a long hiatus, the group comes back with a new Pandemic Edition of the podcast. The first movie discused is the 1988 film Miracle Mile. It is described as a “pre-appocolyptic love story” starring Anthony Edwards and Mare Winningham, as well as many character actors that you will probably recongnize. We were lucky enough to be joined by Billy DaMota, who is a casting director. Miracle Mile was the first film he cast. He has since been the casting director for over 200 films. Also joining the gang is Ralph’s brother John, a well informed movie buff.

Finally we officially welcome Wojo to the group as the fifth member. She will bring some much needed class and insight to our little podcast. In honor of that, Wojo and the group discuss one of her favorite films, The Princess Bride. We learn many interesting facts and also discover that Wojo has interviewed some of the stars of the film for her real job.

Hassan introduces the group to a 2010 film called Beautiful Boy. It is a fascinating look at the aftermath of a school shooting. Making it even more ominous, we recorded while the news of the Stoneman Douglas shooting was fresh in our minds.
