The Covid virus has shown how fragile the entire supply chain system is. We have seen a rise in times to get everything from basic supplies to furniture. We have shortages in multiple resources - sand, petroleum, truckers, chicken and more - which is causing issues around the globe. Yet in the United States we still have it better then most of the world. Even though inflation is causing issues, we still are for the most part able to purchase what we need even though it is more expensive than it has been in a while. With technology advancing the way it is - we have a conversation about how technology is changing how we live. While most people have been used to carrying around their drivers license/insurance cards this may be a thing of the past as these slowly go digital. A few days ago was the 20th anniversary of the September 11th attacks of 2001. I (Paul) was in college as a freshmen and Aaron was in kindergarten when the attacks happened. As we get older we seem to go through various phases of life. Unfortunately as we move through these phases - some things seem to remain constant and that is that we tend to loose friends and the number of people we interact with goes down. Some of these phases of life include college, first job, moving out on your own, and then every five or so years in life. Apple recently announced that they are going to start scanning for CSAM on iPhones locally. Currently it has been reported that they may have been doing this on their servers "in the cloud" but with the move down to the local phone - people have started to get concerned about intrusion. It has been alleged by various people that this new CSAM scanning will invade their privacy and get them flagged as having inappropriate material if they have pictures of their children on the phone and they happen to not be fully clothed. Like all fake news in the world today - it has little representation to the actual truth - but has just enough reality in it to make people believe it while stirring up their fears. A few episodes we talked about how Facebook, Twitter, etc can choose to enforce their policies how they see fit and that by doing this this did not come afoul of the first amendment. Well in July this started to change as the White House admitted that their officials have started to flag material for social media to remove - which is a change in the protocol of the social media companies no longer deciding on what to keep and remove, but instead is now taking it's ques directly from the government. It was also reported that the White House is in talks with carriers to prevent the spreading of misinformation about the Covid Vaccine through SMS messages - something that should be concerning. In America there is sometimes an unfortunate combining of Patriotism and the Christian faith. This has resulted in some people lumping the two together - both the good and the bad parts of it - as well as people who are attempting to be true to their Christian beliefs unwillingly and unknowingly (at least we hope) attempting to force their beliefs on others through political measures. This has given the Christian faith a bad name in America - and we are not doing anything good on our own to help with that at times. Recently Kevin Max announced on https://twitter.com/kevinmax/status/1393440477714788352?s=20 (Twitter) that he is an Exvangelical. This was of course met by the typical Twitter reaction - those that agree with him cheered and rejoiced and those that didn't agree with him immediately went after him. There never seems to be a middle ground with twitter - and this is just another reason why Social Media is cancer - but this is neither here nor there. It seems that in the past few months there has been a trend where people that have any questions regarding their faith jump over investigating their faith and go immediately to marking themselves as exvangelical as they are deconstructing their faith. Some of the people that make this pronouncement, like Kevin Max, then go on to state that they believe in the universal christ. What does this mean? Let's discuss this. Often times people will say that only God can judge them - or that we should not judge anyone else as their sin is only between them and God. But does the New Testament actually say this? A lot of people quote Matthew 7:1 and go "there - don't judge me" but they forget to read the rest of the verse, let alone the rest of the New Testament. In what sounds like an episode of "An Old Man Yells At The Clouds" - Paul talks about how scary TikTok can be. While this app appears to be very popular amongst the younger generation, there are also very adult things found on the application as well as other things that are questionable - with people doing obnoxious things on the application just to become "internet famous". Some of these things include kids swearing in front of their parents until they get in trouble, or grown men walking up to other people asking them what they could purchase with their "body count". For those not in the know - Body Count is the number of people a person has slept with. Yeah - if you just threw up in your mouth a little - your not the only one.
