LUKE 12: Jesus teaches Fearing God more than man. Right now we are all surrounded by voices tell us what we need to make this a Christmas to remember.  Like all the new car ads with beautiful bows being presented to another.  Every channel designed for children runs toy ad after toy add.  Even our preschool grandchild’s tablet apps are running toy ads.  Last month before the elections, we were inundated with promises and smear campaigns that left us jaded and sullied.  What do all these have in common … promises that will not fill that hole in our life that only the LIVING God can fill.  And fo those like myself who are struggling … one of the psalms gives us a perspective of considering our current affliction in light of Eternity. LUKE 11: Learning to Pray; Ask, Seek, Knock; Warnings Jesus teaches his disciples how to pray.  We are encouraged to Ask, Seek and Knock to know that GOD is a Father who gives good gifts to His beloved.  On the other side of the coin, those watching claim Jesus heals by the power demon while others ask for signs from heaven.  Jesus begins to call out that the entire generation was in one word:  evil.  Ouch.  And Jesus teaches the people who will stand accusing them on judgment day.  Jesus issues warnings for those that lead and those who were the keepers oof the Law.  So much to be gleaned here today. LUKE 10: Jesus sends out 72, Good Samaritan, Mary and Martha Jesus teaches in real time and in this chapter He send out 72 to go out two by two to prepare the way before He reaches that city.  These are to go out with NO SUPPLIES and to do specific things in the city.  There is a message here for us today.  Who do you consider to be your neighbor??  Oh wow, just wow.  Let’s rip off our cultural bandaid.  And then two sisters.  Which do you think you would be?? LUKE 9: Jesus Feeds 5000 and Cost of Following Jesus. Jesus would have been considered a celebrity in our world today even though He did not seek out fame.   People love to seek out what is novel and those that everyone is talking about.  Jesus was changing lives not only through the miracles but by LOVING people where they were.  Especially those who were outcast or marginalized; those that were not considered “WORTHY” or “GOOD ENOUGH” by society’s standard.As Jesus’ fame grew people wanted to be part of the happening.    Jesus met needs.  When a large crowd was gathered as even came and they were remote, Jesus take 5 small loaves of bread and 2 small fish and feeds everyone until they were satisfied.  Jesus tells everyone what the cost of following Him is. LUKE 8:  Jesus Teaching in Parables and Miracles A miracle can be a momentary experience or it can be life changing.  The people who wanted to see and hear Jesus came from all kinds of backgrounds: rich, poor, learned, uneducated, humble, royalty, religious, demon possessed.  Yeah, even those whom demons tortured engaged with Jesus … and Jesus freed the person of that burdensome evil … Yes there are many demon-possessed here today in 2022.  Jesus also being using parables to teach the masses coming to see Him.  Why??  Come and check it out … I pray that your miracle will be truly life changing. LUKE 7: Miracles everywhere Jesus Travels What miracle do you need in your life right now???  These holiday months can be brutally hard for many and YET Jesus is doing miracles even today!!  Today we learn that Jesus does not even have to be physically present to do the miraculous.  He is able to restore relationships as he did to a grieving widow woman whose only son had died.  John the Baptist gets answers to inquiry about Jesus and Jesus feets are cleanse by the tears of a sinful woman and anointed with precious oils in front of a crowd of witness of the Jewish leadership.  Powerful truths that Jesus does every single day!!  And is still doing even today.
