LUKE 23: Willing walk to certain death >>> for YOU and for ME. From the time Jesus is arrested in the garden until his death on the cross is less than 18 hours … Consider that.  Tonight you are hearing this and before sunset tomorrow DEATH.  The Jewish Council and Sanhedrin turned Jesus over to Pilate who did not find anything worthy of death; Pilate sends him to Herod; Herod badgers him for a miracle and then mocks and humiliates Jesus before sending him back to Pilate.  Pilate tries unsuccessfully to free Jesus but the people screamed Crucify HIM.  Jesus is hung on the cross, mocked by the crowded, the guards and one of the other being crucified.  Jesus dies on the cross.  And is buried in Joseph’s tomb. LUKE 22: Final evening of freedom, arrest, faces Sanhedrin. The last hours of Jesus' life were filled with a lot of intense thoughts, words and deeds.  Jesus knows that the arrest is imminent; He knows who is going to betray him.  Today’s testimony is the LAST SUPPER which is so important.  Jesus makes prediction which will be fulfilled before dawn.  Jesus' journey to the cross begins and it is hard. LUKE 21: Can you read the signs of the time??  Jesus' primary focus is to tell those present about what is going to happen in the times ahead including  predicting the destruction of the temple, the destruction of Jerusalem, various signs of the times, and what the end of the age will be like. LUKE 20: Jesus outmaneuvers the Jewish Elite. The last couple days of Jesus earthly journey was devoted to teached in the Templle.  The powerful Reliegious Elite were looking for a way to  discredit or get rid of Jesus.  When Jesus tells a parable of the wicked tenants it is apparent that Jesus is pointing out the faults of these evil leaders.  So they set forth to trick him into something that will cause Roman to arrest Jesus.  Jesus handles each challenge with class and then warns his followers against these Elitist teachers of the Law. LUKE 19: What outrageous thing would you do to see Jesus? Do you remember Jesus selecting Zacchaeus to have dinner with??  Then there is Jesus example to convey that the Kingdom of God was in the future known at the Ten Minas or as another version titles: “The King, the Servants and the Money” is very unsettling … especially those that rejected the new King. As Jesus enters Jerusalem for the last time before Passover, people line the streets with their coats and palm fronds worshiping and praising God.  Jesus foretells the future of Jerusalem. Our GOD is good all the time and ALL the time, God is good.  This is a truth worth memorizing and repeating when hard gets harder and there is no end in sight.  The chapters today speak into this type of challenge … Yes, they all are momentary when considered against the timeline of eternity, but goodness in the moment they are heavy.
