Mara holds a Masters of Science in Nursing from University of California, San Francisco.Mara's current integrative practice focuses on the four aspects of TBDs: Prevention, Diagnosis, Treatment, and Rehabilitation and Healing. Recognized for her expertise in TBDs using both Eastern and Western medicine, Mara is well versed in the most widely recognized healing modalities, including functional and nutritional medicine; pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, conventional medicines, including antibiotics, and many other less knowing, yet highly effective, healing methods from around the world.Besides being a healthcare provider, Mara's personal experience with TBDs includes the care of her daughter, who is presently struggling with Chronic Lyme Disease after having gone undiagnosed for over 20 years. Mara lives with her husband in Northern California.

    The IDSA has just announced that it is revising its guidelines. Its process excludes patients with Lyme disease, physicians who treat them, and even researchers who do not adhere to the IDSA viewpoint that Lyme disease is “hard to catch and easy to diagnose and cure”. LymeDisease.org launched a patient survey on what patients who have Lyme disease value and find important. Over 6,000 patients responded in one month. LDo also filed comments with the LDA on behalf of over 90 patient groups. Lorraine discusses the guideline revision process and how it differs from the process for developing guidelines by ILADS last year.
