I’ve been involved in dozens of launches and I’ve learned a lot from my experiences. But... Every launch comes with it’s lessons learned.  At this point, I think I’m just learning these lessons on a deeper level. It’s one thing to know that you should care for your mindset, leadership, planning, etc., but it’s a whole other thing to apply this information while you’re trying to scale your business. These five tips can serve anyone, whether you’ve launched a million times or this is your first time. I debrief after every launch and review my lessons learned so I can really learn them (so I don’t have to learn them again!) And hopefully this will help you avoid some of the common mistakes we all make when launching!

Why is it so important to learn to receive everything in our lives? Patty Lennon, a keynote speaker, coach, and best selling author that helps people create space for magic in their lives and businesses, found that everyone she met struggling in their businesses was struggling with their ability to receive. There is a kind of magic that comes with learning to receive everything: both the positive and the things we perceive as negative.  She’s seen people go from struggling to make a sale in 8 hours to making $20,000 in revenue just by deciding to go to bed and accept that they’ve already put in all the work they can. I've always wanted to do everything by myself. Even as a kid.   If my grandparents tried to do the alphabet with me I would say “NO STOP! I do it I do it!”, because I wanted to do it by myself. Wherever you are in the world, I'm sure you saw the horrific displays of white supremacy in the U.S. Capitol at the start of 2021. Quite frankly, it was all the more horrific because it was predictable. If we have any chance of making the world the brighter place that I know we all wish to see: full of equality, joy, and love for all people, regardless of how their body (earth suit) looks or who they love or where they were born, then we need to be actively working toward it. Erica Courdae has dedicated her life to expanding how others interact with the world through powerful conversations (like the one we had in this episode). Her work is focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), imperfect allyship, and imposter syndrome. As business owners, it’s our responsibility to make a real shift in the way we work to contribute to making the world a brighter place for all humans.

During Happy Hour yesterday, I asked everyone to un-mute themselves and say those words: Thank you 2020. It was close to 50/50 with the number of people who looked at me in shock vs. those who were genuinely glad to be saying these words. There may have been a sarcastic remark or two. That’s okay with me. You’re always allowed to feel your feelings.  But if you’re open to the activity we did, I challenge you to write out 10 sentences starting with: “I’m so grateful for…”  In this time of reflecting, and making plans for the year ahead, it can be really easy to say “SEE YA, BITCH!” to what has been the strangest year for most of us. But I’m challenging you to take some time to reflect on the year in its entirety. What was your biggest win of the year and what was the biggest lesson you learned? No matter what your answers are, I want to say cheers to you. You’re amazing. This is how I end my year on a good note, and I hope you can also get something from this gratitude practice.

I’ve talked about slowing down and doing less a lot on this podcast, so it might sound counterintuitive to talk about fast tracking, but it turns out that we’re all on the same page. As someone who built their business using partnerships, I’ve never really had an issue making connections. When I need to do something I just send a text or hop in a call with a friend and get things moving.  I’ve been told by my team, and fellow entrepreneurs, that it can seem pretty intimidating if you don’t know exactly where to start.
