Sinopsis

Despite all the progress that's been made, women are still underrepresented in business, the boardroom and society as a whole. It's tough to know what we can do to support each other and enact change. • Is Podcasting A White Man's Game? A Candid Conversation on Diversity in the Podcast World

    03/03/2020 Duración: 51min

"Podcasting is still a white man's game." When you look at the top podcasts on the charts, only 1/3 are hosted by women, and just over 10% have non-white hosts. That's why I invited Jess Kupferman, Co-Founder of She Podcasts, an online and offline community for women podcasters with over 15,000 members strong, to come on the show.  In this episode, we're chatting about everything from planning events to accommodate ALL women (introverts, you're going to love this!), the depressing statistics about women in podcasting, and how companies and individuals can do better to further diversity in the field. We're also diving into some uncomfortable topics - when it feels hard to talk about race, the risk of white centering, how to use our own fear to take bold action and whether or not we're sabotaging our own success.  This is a deep and important episode with a WHOLE lot of wit and silliness, all rolled into one, and we would expect nothing less from the extraordinaire Jess Kupferman!

We'll also chat about sharting a business when you're still in your full-time job, running a Kickstarter campaign to test out your concept and why it's important to always be prepared to pivot. Lastly, we'll talk about dreaming big, and the ladies will share with you what happened when they sent a necktie to Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg at the Supreme Court!

These ladies are chatting about it all - from male-dominated industries to the importance of women speaking out. We're diving deep into this question and other hot topics, including how we can use our white privilege to effect change, why it's not about men vs. women but about those with power vs. those without, and why the Women's Movement is just like a game of Red Rover - the stronger we are together, the harder it will be to stop our force.

    03/06/2019 Duración: 42min

In today’s world, especially recently, women’s rights and freedoms are being challenged. Amid the injustices occurring, it is vital that all of us should be standing up and speaking out. In today’s episode, I get in-depth on the current state of women’s rights with Lisa Merlo-Booth. Lisa works closely with couples and individual women on their relationships to shine a light on the messages of misogyny, inequality, and violence that many people are raised on. She firmly believes in standing up for your worth with a grounded powerful strength. We talk about how we can take actionable steps to make a difference and how it is so important to hold ourselves accountable for our own actions. We discuss other actions that can block our power and how to use that power from within to stand up for what we believe in. Diving into these difficult topics is never easy, but it is my hope that you can find the strength to rise up after hearing our conversation.   Mentioned in this episode: Visit Lisa's Website Check Out Lisa
