Mythmaking Etc

Today’s show is culled from the remainder of my first attempt at a podcast called Mythmaking ETC a couple years ago. I recall I was a bit critical of DC Comics Presents 17. Continuing my look at the Avengers “Under Siege” storyline with issue 274. Now that the Masters of Evil have taken over the mansion, they await the return of the Avengers, eliminating the members one-by-one. Theme Song is “One Step (instrumental)” by Yacht.Download

With this episode I begin a five-part look at the Avengers story line that has become known as “Under Siege” from Avengers 273-277. Today’s episode looks at Avengers 273. After a word about nostalgia for the comics I read as a kid and how that will effect the podcast going forward, I look at some more issues that came out in April of 1979, namely Superman Family 196 and Action Comics 497 with brief mentions of Green Lantern / Green Arrow 118 and World of Krypton 1. On the first “real” episode of Mythmaking ETC I introduce the Retro-Pull List series in which I take a look at comics that were published during the same month. Thanks to Mike’s Amazing World of Comics for that information. I take a look at Adventure Comics 464, particularly the Flash, Deadman and Aquaman stories, and then after brief looks at DC Comics Presents 11 and Flash 275, I delve into Justice League of America 168!
