Force Ghost Coast To Coast

It is well documented how practically no one felt that The Rise of Skywalker was a satisfactory conclusion to the Skywalker Saga. It also wasn't the originally intended third film; Derek Connolly and Colin Trevorrow had originally written Duel of the Fates, to be directed by Trevorrow, as the ninth film in the saga. A draft of that script from December of 2016, a full year before the release of The Last Jedi leaked online some time ago. For this week's show, Liz, Matt, and Brian read the script and share their thoughts. Would this have been an improvement over the film we all saw nearly 2 years ago? Is it a good thing that this script never saw production? We strongly encourage you to read the script before listening to this episode, or else it will likely make little, if any, sense. 

While Liz is on vacation, Matt and Brian dig back into the Marvel Comics Star Wars crossover to discuss this event which, contrary to the title, isn't really a war and doesn't involve a ton of bounty hunters. Plus, a wild idea that will (more than likely) be nothing gets floated at the very end of the show.

It has been an eventful six weeks for The Bad Batch, and so we check in with Clone Force 99, as well as their myriad guest stars, including a hat-wearing favorite of Matt's. Plus, get the latest Star Wars/Fast and the Furious update, and a declaration about this podcast's stance on RoboCop. 

Liz, Matt, and Brian dig into the first month or so of Marvel's new 'War of the Bounty Hunters' crossover event. This ramshackle episode gets derailed by questions about timelines, balloon pigs, and the general nuttiness of some of these comics. The latter parts of this crossover will eventually be covered, but likely not for a few months, so be patient with us!

With the Star Wars universe relatively quiet right now, Liz,Matt, and Brian check in with the next two episodes of The Bad Batch. After some general chit-chat, the hosts dig into each character, and look towards the future of the series.

On May the Fourth, Disney+ launched The Bad Batch, a new spin-off series from The Clone Wars. Now, two episodes in, Liz, Matt, and Brian discuss the start of the series that has surprised and delighted them thus far. Plus, hear Brian rant about the other Star Wars May the Fourth Disney+ offerings!

After a long layoff for Prequelpalooza, a couple of book reviews, the second season of The Mandalorian, and more, Liz, Matt, and Brian reconvene to discuss the final two seasons of The Clone Wars. Topics discussed include the wasted episodes of both seasons, the upcoming Bad Batch series, and why Ahsoka remains the absolute best.

After teasing it for the better part of 2 months, Liz, Matt, and Brian return with a look at the latest Star Wars anthology book, this time telling stories set in and around The Empire Strikes Back. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll wonder what it is that you just read.

Brian welcomes fellow Multiversity podcaster Zach Wilkerson to discuss the first novel in the new 'High Republic' era of Star Wars storytelling, Light of the Jedi. The book kicks off an era of stories set 200 years before The Phantom Menace, and if this novel is any indication, it'll be a fun era to dig around in.

A week late, but Matt, Liz, and Brian look back on The Force Awakens on its fifth anniversary. First, they try to take the film as its own entity, and then attempt to analyze it in light of The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker. Along the way, we trash Han Solo's dialogue, praise Ben Solo's journey, and universally love the ending.

Multiversity podcaster extraordinaire Zach Wilkerson stops by the show to help Liz, Matt, and Brian properly send off the second season of The Mandalorian. Topics discussed include: the future of Luke Skywalker in Star Wars TV, if we will ever see Grogu again, and the three upcoming spinoff series.

Aside from The Bad Batch, which we totally to mention, Liz, Matt, and Brian break down all the known Star Wars film and television projects, including Hayden Christensen's return as Darth Vader in Obi-Wan Kenobi, the anime inspired Star Wars: Visions, and the untitled Taika Watiti film.

Friend of the show and Multiversity podcaster Greg Matiasevich stops by the show, spurred by a text he sent Brian earlier in the week. The old chums discuss fan edits of films, specifically Star Wars films, and Greg fills Brian in on his proposed edit of the sequel trilogy, tentatively titled Ashes of the Empire. 

Matt, Liz, and Brian convene on the unofficial start of the holiday season to talk about the brand new Lego Star Wars Holiday Special. This special has everything: jokes, fun post-Rise of Skywalker ideas, Lando, everything.

Inspired by our reading of From a Certain Point of View: The Empire Strikes Back, Matt, Liz, and Brian pick three different characters, settings, and concepts that we would like to see more Star Wars stories tackle. From droids to Jedi, minor characters to data collection techniques, we go up and down the galaxy far, far away for a bunch of new ideas.
