  • 218 - Interview w/ Costa Botes, writer/director of FORGOTTEN SILVER

    08/05/2022 Duración: 01h18min

You'll remember a few episodes back when we discussed the film Forgotten Silver, the faux-documentary delight from New Zealand by filmmakers Costa Botes and Peter Jackson. By some magic of blind luck, divine intervention, and/or SEO, the episode managed to come across the ears of Costa Botes himself, who was kind enough to join me for chat. In a historic feat of logisiics, I was able to calculate the time zone difference between Philadelphia and New Zealand and schedule a Zoom call that suited both of our schedules. In a downright heroic feat of tech savvy, I was able to cut out a portion of the interview where the free Zoom ran out of time and we had to restart. I feel like Angelina Jolie in Hackers. You do not want to miss Forgotten Silver, which you can check out here: https://vimeo.com/ondemand/forgottensilver Check out the trailer for Costa Botes' upcoming When the Cows Come Home here: https://vimeo.com/591323112 --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/moviemoviecast/support

  • 215 - Peter Jackson and Costa Botes’ Forgotten Silver w/ Woody Fentress

    13/03/2022 Duración: 01h35min

We all know Peter Jackson as the man behind LORD OF THE RINGS (yaaaay!), THE HOBBIT (not so yay!), and a variety of goopy classics like MEET THE FEEBLES (yay!), DEAD ALIVE (yay!), and BADF TASTE (yay!), but were you aware that in 1995 he teamed up with Costa Botes to direct a faux-film history documentary? Well he did. It’s called FORGOTTEN SILVER, and it’s an influence on our guest, filmmaker Woody Fentress. Woody is the founder of the production companies Family Portrait Friend Pictures and Broken Bread. One time we went to see a Star War and he brought action figures. It was impressive. Check out Woody’s films at Family Portrait Pictures https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCIGSfSFgoNEhfVVyO0r1z3w and make sure to follow I LIKE TO MOVIE MOVIE wherever you get podcasts as well as @moviemoviecast on IG and Twitter. • 214 - Lethal Weapon 3 AND 4 w/ Alex Pearlman

    27/02/2022 Duración: 02h46min

You can’t keep a good cop down, and as evidenced by Lethal Weapon 3 and 4, you can’t keep a bad cop down either. Two bad cops would be damn near impossible to keep down. Join Alex Pearlman of @themboyspod and I as we laugh ourselves silly at Leo Getz while also examining his heritage. But mostly we just express astonishment that Riggs and Murtaugh haven’t been sent to jail for killing pretty much anyone they come in contact with. Isn’t it funny when cops antagonize normal people with guns just for funsies? Dick Donner and the gang seem to think so! We agree, but ONLY IN PRETEND WORLD! Please like, subscribe, and follow I Like to Movie Movie on all platforms. Same goes for Them Boys Pod. @moviemoviecast @alexpearlman @themboyspod www.ScullyVision.com --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/moviemoviecast/support

  • 213 - The Oscars are Lame and We Love Them w/ Dexter Anderson

    13/02/2022 Duración: 01h42min

This week the Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts, Farts, Crafts, and Coldplay's The Scientist released the nominees for the 2022 Oscars Ceremony. I'm not sure what number Oscars it is, but that's okay because it doesn't matter. I am joined by Oscar scholar Dexter Anderson to go over our predictions, hopes, and dreams for this year's ceremony. We cover what we saw, what we didn't see, and what we'd like to see if only our eyes were not blinded by the sparkling glitz and glamour of Tinseltown. Remember when Bojack Horseman was supposed to win last year but then Sir Hannibal Lecter won instead? Remember when we continued to elect near literal demons to public office but wouldn’t allow someone to host the Oscars if they happened to tweet something unsavory a decade ago? We remember. Pepperidge Farm remembers. Guy Pearce's character in Memento does not remember. Someone will have to let him know that Polaroids are hella passe now, bro. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/moviemoviecast/support

  • 212 - Lethal Weapon 1 AND 2 w/ Alex Pearlman of Them Boys

    30/01/2022 Duración: 01h53min

Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh have been holding Los Angeles hostage with their antics for as long as my guest Alex Pearlman and I have been alive. In part one of our epic two part series, we discuss the history and legacy of the front half of Dick Donner’s legendary copaganda odyssey. What ingredients are needed to open a 1987 Joel Silver movie? How does diplomatic immunity really work? Does cracking your neck make you better at shooting guns? At what point does crippling PTSD become a charming quirk? These questions and more are answered within. Kevin Lau joins in on the fun as we dissect the film itself, its impact, and how the assumed nomenclature of "The next Spielberg" might not have been as accurate as "The next Hitchcock." The Village holds many secrets, and we aim to find them all! Like, subscribe, share, comment, and make sure that if you need to control a large group of people, try to be honest.
