Another huge recruiting weekend upcoming for the Trojans

The guys talk about how this USC football recruiting class of 2024 climbed in the rankings from No. 57 all the way up to No. 19 in the country and No. 2 in the Pac-12 with a lot more room to move up with some more top verbal commitments. Last weekend didn't have a high number of visitors but USC did host another Elite Camp with several top prospect on campus working out in front of the Trojans coaching staff. Coach Harvey Hyde reacts to USC's future Big Ten football schedule for 2024 and 2025
12/06/2023 Duración: 38minOn this episode of the Peristyle Podcasts hosts Ryan Abraham and Coach Harvey Hyde are back breaking down the huge news that was released last week from the Big Ten, their Flex Protect Plus football scheduling model that will allow all 16 of the teams in the new-look B1G to play everyone in the conference at least once every two years and visit all 15 of the other venues at least once every four years. It also allows for protected rivalries that would be played every year and for the USC Trojans the obvious choices was the UCLA Bruins, keeping that long standing rivalry going. The Big Ten announced the removal of divisions and the introduction of the Flex Protect Plus scheduling model that will allow every Big Ten team to play a home and road game against all 15 other conference opponents in a four year period. For the Trojans their protected rival (program you will play every season) is UCLA and in year one USC welcomes Michigan, Iowa, Wisconsin and Illinois to the Coliseum with UCLA, Penn State, Maryland, Northwestern and Purdue on the road (to go along with Notre Dame at home and LSU in Las Vegas). In 2025 USC has Indiana, Michigan State, Nebraska, Penn State and UCLA at home and Ohio State, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Rutgers on the road. Reaction to the abrupt resignation of USC athletic director Mike Bohn

Friday seemed like it would be a relatively slow news day in the world of college football until the LA Times reported that Bohn has sent his his resignation letter and would stepping down immediately as head of the Trojans athletic department. That was followed shortly after by an acceptance of the resignation letter by USC president Carol Folt, stating that he would no longer be the athletic director as of that day and they would put together a temporary leadership plan while they kick off a national search for a new AD. USC track and field program is building for the future

USC track and field throws coach Martin Maric is a two-time Olympian who competed at the University of California Berkley and spent the past decade coaching at Virginia. Former USC thrower Conor McCullough is the president of the South Bay Athletic Club and competed in the 2016 Olympics. On the football front head coach Lincoln Riley landed another highly ranked player out of the NCAA Transfer Portal in former Alabama four-star defensive back Tre'Quon Fegans. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound Fegans took an official visit to USC over the weekend and announced his commitment Sunday morning over social media. Fegans was rated as a cornerback out of high school but he brings the versatility to play safety or the nickel position for USC's defense. Soon after the elder Fegans committed to USC his younger brother Lott Trophy luncheon also picked the Trojans. Anquon Fegans is the top ranked safety in the 2025 recruiting class.
