Thumbstick Athletes

Since we didn't get to have our What We Played segment last week, we decided to devote a full episode to catching up on the games we've played over the last few weeks.  We cover Ratchet and Clank, The Witcher 3, Uncharted 4, Hearts of Iron 4, and several others.  After the episode, Dan and Corey also catch up on the last two episode of Game of Thrones...episode 8 "No One" and the recent episode 9 "Battle of the Bastards."

We recap the major press conferences from EA, Bethesda, Microsoft, Ubisoft, Sony and Nintendo in a very lengthy main segment. 

Gamer Christmas starts early next week, so the Athletes do their usual predictions episode beforehand.  It contains the usual blend of pessimism and optimism, with some bold predictions thrown in as well.  During What We Played, Dan talks early impressions of Hearts of Iron IV, Eric played some mobile games, Will mixed in Doom and Ratchet and Clank along with some older classics, and Corey revisits The Witcher 3.  After the episode, Dan and Corey cover last weekend's Game of Thrones episode, "The Broken Man."

We didn't end up covering Doom this week like we thought we were, but it obviously came up in Letter D episode.  We covered Doom, Dreamcast, Destructoid...and that's pretty much it.  It was a busy week!  During what we played, Overwatch took up most of the segment, and after the episode Dan and Corey talk some spoilers for Episode 6 of Game of Thrones titled "Blood of my Blood."

After open and closed betas, we finally were able to get our mitts on the finished project...so in a timely fashion we cover Overwatch.  In later segments Will talks about Fallout 4's Far Harbor DLC, and Corey played Salt and Sanctuary.  After the episode Dan and Corey do a spoiler filled discussion on episodes 4 and 5 of Game of Thrones Season 6. 

Will and Eric cover the latest Naughty Dog masterpiece Uncharted 4.  During "What We Played" we cover the Final Fantasy x/X-2 HD remaster and more Stellaris.  We also debut a new segment called "What We Didn't Play"

This week we cover things in gaming that start with the letter C, including CC Challenger Cup Hockey, Chuck E. Cheese Sports, and CD Projekt Red.  During What We Played Will gives his first impressions of Uncharted 4, Corey played Stellaris, and we all talk some Overwatch.  After the outro, Dan and Corey talk Game of Thrones spoilers from Episodes 1, 2 and the latest episode "Oathbreaker".

Eric covers the new episodic Hitman game this week, our first experience with the series.  During what we played we talk about Galak Z, Disgaea PC, and the Overwatch beta.

In lieu of 4 in February, we decided for this week to hit some games from our backlogs and report in.  In "What We Played" we talked a little more Dark Souls 3, and Corey briefly covers some of the Whispers of the Old Gods Hearthstone expansion.

Praise the Sun!!!  We finally got our hands on the newest Dark Souls game, and the supposed final game in the series.  During "What We Played" we cover the Overwatch beta, Ratchet and Clank, and a little of the Doom beta.

Eric and Will cover Xbox One and Windows 10 exclusive Quantum Break this week, with Dark Souls III, Ratchet and Clank, and Enter the Gungeon being briefly covered during what we played.

At a listener's request we cover the Diablo-esque ARPG Grim Dawn, which recently came out of early access.  During What we Played we cover Miitomo, Hyper Light Drifter and early impressions of Quantum Break. After the outro we talk some spoilers for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

We cover a mobile game for the first time in our history, and hopefully it never happens again!  During "What We Played" we all talk a little more Stardew Valley, and Corey played some Grim Dawn. 

We dig deeper into Stardew Valley, talking about more mid to late game content after having sunk a significant amount of time into the farming RPG.   During "What We Played" we talked more about The Division and Corey talks about The Flame and the Flood.

The Division is a rare gem, being a game that not only did we all play, but all played together.   Other games of note that we talked about were Stardew Valley and Salt and Sanctuary during "What We Played"

Corey talked a little bit about it last week, but we cover it more fully this week....Stardew Valley.  The most Harvest Moon like game since the first Harvest Moon.   We also give some brief first impressions of The Division.

The Far Cry Series' first trek back in history, and it goes way back....10,000 BCE to be exact.  Far Cry has swapped vehicles for woolly mammoths and guns with bows and spears as the protagonist Takkar tries to rebuild the Wenja tribe while fending off the violence of neighboring tribes.    During what we played we talk some more Fire Emblem Fates and give first impressions of Stardew Valley.  (to be covered next week)

We talk about the wonderful Fire Emblem Fates games this week, with Will covering Birthright and Dan covering Conquest.  We're looking forward to the release of the third part, Revelations!   During Nibblebits (news) we talk about the leaked Fallout 4 survival mode, BioShock Collection being rated in Brazil, and the Necromancer coming to Heroes of the Storm.   During What We Played we cover The Division Beta, Danganronpa: Tigger Happy Havoc, and Will gives his brief first impressions of Far Cry Primal.

It's a host's choice episode where we talk about gaming addictions, Fallout 4, and some ideas for video content.  During "What We Played" we talked some more XCOM 2.

XCOM 2 picks up after the inevitable failure of the XCOM project in XCOM Enemy Unkown.  We discuss our thoughts on some of the changes made for the second game and get into some of the performance issues as well.   During "What We Played" we talk about the newly released Firewatch and Unravel and talk some more about The Witness.
