Just days after Jon Scheyer told the Countdown crowd that Jayson Tatum would be involved with this year's Duke team, it has been formally announced that the First Team All-NBA superstar will be Duke's first ever Chief Basketball Officer. This is huge news for the program and prompted the Duke Basketball Roundup team to hop on a pod to talk about it. Tatum makes it clear that he wants to take an active role in the lives and development of the Duke players. Duke Football demolished the Syracuse Orange 38-3 over the weekend, and we’re here to react to it on Episode 755! Duke Football took care of business against Elon in their opening game of the 2025 season as Week 1 kicked off with some exciting matchups! We welcome back Scott Rich on Episode 747 to take us through all of the big takeaways from the long weekend of football. Jason is returning home from vacation, so Scott and Donald take flight on this episode beginning by recapping Duke’s 45-17 win over Elon on Thursday night. Darian Mensah looked as advertised, and the passing game was pretty fun to watch as Duke eventually took control of the game in the second half. We’re back with DBR Bites #113, where we had plans to continue our discussion of some news items...until breaking news came down. Donald and Jason begin their discussion with the report from a few days ago that power conferences had agreed to a deal that would allow for the clearinghouse created by the House settlement to proceed with approving more deals by NIL collectives. However, a few minutes into that discussion, news broke of a new order that would turn that agreement on its head. We react to the breaking news and what it could mean for the whirlwind that is the NIL marketplace.
