Cliff and Emily talk with Kevin Wright and Denise Newman about Grizzly Creek State Park volunteer day this pas Saturday and an update on the Elk River Trail project. The NCRA Eureka/Arcata corridor committee meetings are also discussed.

Cliff and Jenny Weiss talk with Debby Hart, Grant Elementary PTA about International Walk To School Day and the Safe Routes To School program. The N.C.R.A. meeting, Arcata Rail With Trail project and the Governor's veto of the 3 foot passing bill are also discussed.

Cliff and Emily talk with Bill Kier of the North Coast Railroad Authority about the newly created Bay Rail Corridor Committee. 3 public meetings will take place staring this Friday, 10am in the Eureka City Council Chambers. The first meeting will be dealing with the condition of the rail prism. The next meeting, October 12th, will be dealing with potential Trail Development along the corridor. The 3rd meeting on October 26th will deal with the potential of restoring Rail Service on the line. The public is invited and encouraged to attend these meetings.

Cliff and Emily talk with Dave Snyder, Executive Director of the California Bicycle Coalition about the pending 3 foot passing law now on the Governor's desk. Also discussed, innovative bike lane and pathways in other states currently not allowed in California.

Cliff and Emily talk with Dan Ehresman, Programs Manager of the North Coast Environmental Center about the Coastal Clean Up day the future of the circulation element of the General Plan Update in the light of the fact that several members of the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors have urged scrapping the 12 years of work and public comment and starting from scratch.

Cliff and Emily talk with Alison Pernell, project manager for the Local Government Commission, about plans for Orick.

Cliff talks with Emily Sinkhorn about the NCRA Rail/Trail commette, Arcata's plans to build a trai from the skate park to near the midway portion of the Bay Trail. Also the legal review of the Annie & Mary rail banking process, the Circulation Element part of the County General Plan Update coming before the Board of Supervisors on Sepember 17th. And lastly the State Assemblee's decision to support the "3 foot passing law."

Cliff and Emily talk with Maria Bauman and Michelle Postman, both Health Education Specialests about a pilot program getting underway in Fortuna today called the Safety Flag Program at 6 intersections in the town.

Cliff and Emily talke with Bob Ornelas and Debi Farber Bush about their participation in the last Aids Ride back in June and what a life changing experience it was.

Cliff and Emily talke with Kevin Wright, Senior Planner with the Redwood Community Action Agency about the Elk River Trail: Where we are now, what is being worked on, what is the future of the trail and how will it connect with the rest of the area's proposed regional trail system.

Cliff and Emily talk with Steve Schweigerdt, Trail Development Manger of the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, Western Regional Office about a multi-community report various successful trails projects involving hands-on work by the communities the trails serve. Our local situation involving the rail corridor between Eureka and Arcata are also discussed.

Cliff & Emily talk with Rex Jackman of Caltrans about the upcoming workshops on the Pacific Coast Bike Rout in Mendocino County. Before that the decision by the NCRA to form a committee about the Eureka/Arcata rail corridor and what that means for future trails.

Cliff and Emily talk with Denis Rael and Reese Hughes about local action taken by members of our community to bring differing sides together to come up with a compromise to allow the Eureka to Arcata section of the rail road right of way to be rail-banked and begin construction of a class one trail between the cities. Also the latest on the Federal Transportation Reauthorization is discussed along with and update on a California bill to make 3 feet of clearance while passing a cyclist law.

Cliff and Emily talk with Louisa Morris, Director of the Trails conservation program in Mendocino County. Talk focuses on work on various trails projects over the past 12 years in Mendo, new projects about to open, the California Coastal Trail in general and how they have dealt with private land issues regarding concerns of trespass and livestock and dogs.

Cliff and Emily talke with Jenny and Billy of team Big Foot about the upcoming 44th annual Kinetic Grand Championship. Described as the "Triathlon of the Art World this 3 day 42 mile journey from Arcata to Ferndale will go though Sand, Mud, and Water while fending off swarms of mosquitos and man eating clams.

Cliff and Emily talk about Bike to work day this Thursday in Eureka and other Bike Month actives. Plus an opportunity for a class 1 trail from Del Norte to Truesdale through the Palco Marsh as Eureka votes on reprogramming Waterfront Drive funds.
