Stepping Up To The Plate

In part 4 of this 4 part series - Dan sits down with just Dylan as he shares his story about his personal battle with Lyme. Dylan views himself as a warrior because God wants us all to be warriors at times. Dylan’s battle is with Lyme, but we all have our own battles in which we have to fight where God will ask us to bring out the warrior in ourselves. As just a young man of only 16 years, Dylan never takes the role of the victim, he is a warrior and he has been given this cross to bear because God knew that he was strong enough to carry it and smart enough to use it as an inspiration to others, including the president if this non-profit organization. Dylan’s story is one of positivity, strength, faith, courage and inspiration.

In part 3 of this 4 part series - Dan sits down with just Rick and Dee Boltz to continue their talk about their son, Dylan’s battle with Lyme disease. How it feels from a parents perspective to know that you can’t help your child and you have to watch him struggle. The conversation then leads to how just a short little text message sparked an idea of using the game of baseball to help in Dylan’s healing process.

In Part two of this three part series - Dan sits down with the Boltz family, Rick, Dee and Dylan, who are part of the Berkshire Baseball family to talk about their own personal battle with Lyme disease as well as how important one small act of kindness can be. They also speak about what it really means to them to be part of the Berkshire Baseball family and the feeling of inclusion. It’s more than just a game.

This is Part One of a three part series. In Part one - Dan sits down with the newest board member of BIG Vision Foundation, Anne Desjardins, who is also the Director of the Berks County Lyme Support Group. Anne speaks of her personal journey and battle with Lyme disease, which is so often misdiagnosed and very difficult to detect. Anne has a passion for others fighting this disease and speaks of the importance that the new Berks County Lyme Support Group will play in her community. BIG Vision is excited to add Anne to its board and looks forward to collaborating with the Berks County Lyme Support Group in the future.

Dan sits down with Berkshire Baseball Alumni, Marc Goldstein who is also the founder of Blankets of Hope – Berks and they discuss the importance of giving back to the community. Marc also highlights his annual “Take the Chill Off” fundraiser with Chef Tim from the Crowne Plaza and how he was able to earmark money through that fundraiser to allocate blankets for the 2018 Cups of Compassion event that is sponsored by BIG Vision Foundation.

Dan sits down with Andre Young of You Evolving Now and they talk about the newly formed partnership between BIG Vision Foundation and You Evolving Now and the importance of a clear mind, spirit and body in the workforce, on the playing field and most importantly at home.

Dan sits down with long time Muhlenberg A’s American Legion coach, local business owner of Pizza Como in Temple and Berkshire Baseball alumni, Phil Raccuglia to talk about the game of baseball, how it has impacted his life and what it meant to him to have the opportunity to start coaching career within the Berkshire organization. He speaks of how the game reflects life and those who have been the greatest influences in his life both on and off of the field.

Dan talks with Crystl Bustos during last year’s Jennie Finch Softball Camp. Crystl is a two-time Olympic gold medalist. She holds the world record for home runs during an Olympic series, with six. Crystl is also the manager of the Dallas Charge of the National Pro Fastpitch League.

Dan talks with Toni Mascarenas during last year’s Jennie Finch Softball Camp. A graduate of the University of Arizona, Toni became an All-Pac 10 conference player every year she played and earned a second first team All-America honor in 2001. She led the Wildcats to their 2001 National Championshp and at the time of her induction, was in the NCAA top 5 record books for home runs for a season (25) and career RBI's (245). Toni was also listed in the UA softball record books in ten different categories when she was inducted into The University of Arizona Sports Hall of Fame in 2006. Toni graduated with her degree in political science and spent time on the USA Elite team and was a member of the Arizona Heat in the National Pro Fast Pitch league.
