Welly, welly, well, sirs, here it is. Start. Stop. Turn it off and back on again maybe it will work. Lo, and behold the modcast is back up and running after some behind the scenes technical difficulties with my host, Podomatic. I don't know if it makes me feel better to know it wasn't just me that suffered, but most all of those who use Podomatic. But no matter everything seems to be back online and in order. So, without further ado here is my F-U to trolls of the recent weeks who felt the need to tweet or comment on the Facebook show about how terrible this show is. I think one of them said my voice was like listening to nails on a chalkboard. I've always said I had a face for radio and a voice for silent films, so it isn't like I haven't been upfront about this! My first thought was to actually use recordings of nails on chalkboards, but I was too lazy to spend the time to do all that. Most of the complaints were actually about content; apparently my choices aren't mod enough. I beg to differ for so many

Jazz has always played a big part of the mod lifestyle, indeed it was arguably the founding sound of the original mods. Over the years R&B, soul, power pop and other musical styles have become even more dominant in some ways. But elements of jazz always have been and always will be a mainstay of mods the world over. I'm not a deep jazz cat by any means, but I like jazz. I've got lots of jazz favorites like from the early stuff like Louis Armstrong, John Coltrane, and Count Basie, and of course all the various flavors of mod jazz from Jimmy Smith, Chico Hamilton, Miles Davis, and so on. What is the perfect pop song? Good luck on getting an answer. Most of us can't agree on what a pop song is, let alone which ones are perfect. Or near to. But, Mary Queen of Cosmos had the guts, the chutzpah, the balls if you will, to take up Mr. Suave's challenge to figure out the modern day perfect pop song. It's a good show with quote, "a lot of good upstroking and downstroking", so you know you're going to enjoy it on some level. What do you think? What is the perfect pop song, if there is such a thing? Are any of these that? I'll be the judge. The jury. And the executioner. If the Queen of Cosmos is lucky she will while away the rest of her life in musical purgatory.
