What's Up at the Belly Up this week features Anderson East! This podcast was part of our TV show, Live at the Belly Up on which will air Fridays in the fall on KPBS. We learn about Anderson's house cleaning skills, grass cutting skills and FOOD ALLERGIES or lack thereof!  

What's Up at the Belly Up this week features Robert Cray. In just over 40 years Blues Hall of Fame inductee Cray and his band have recorded 20 studio releases, 15 of which have been on the Billboard charts, and played bars, concert halls, festivals and arenas around the world. There are five Grammys with Cray’s name on them! We talked about Pinot making you younger, his passion for cooking, the Northwest, the Beatles, having fun and garage bands. Damian tries to get him on as a consultant for our stage and...we drank mint tea!

What's Up at the Belly Up Podcast this week features singer songwriter Shawn Mullins! We talk about Tom Waits, Shawn feels sorry for Meryl, phone apps, weird forensic cases, how the hit song Lullaby came to be, his new song My Stupid Heart, and beagles!!! We drank coffee and for dessert had a podcast take over from Steve Poltz!!

What's Up at the Belly Up features blues guitarist Bill Magee! We talked about the time Otis Redding battled a promoter to the pond, the “Sandman” (a band’s worst nightmare), and Magee’s inspirations - the “Kings”. Bill shares one of a kind stories and memories of playing with Hendrix, James Brown, and evenings at the Apollo. Bill comes clean about a pretty strange night at the Days Inn - this episode is on fire!

What's Up at the Belly Up this week features The Routine - singer Bryan Barbarin and guitarist Russell Ramo! Voted Best Rock Band at the San Diego Music Awards, check out their new CD "Black Tropics". We talked about Bryan's as Tin Man, angry pandas, Russell's nice teeth, fishsticks and sadness! Meryl accidentally texts a person that their own party was lame, and ponders if humans can get kennel cough. We hear a Conference Room Sessions song, "Mountain". We drank Pabst Blue Ribbon baby.

What's Up at the Belly Up podcast this week features Dave Wakeling of English Beat! We talk about the importance of not hot tubing alone, the strangest things he’s seen on stage, and his involvement with Green Peace. Dave tells us about his moment with David Bowie involving Red Stripe. Is Dave secretly introverted? Did he once play "Twist and Crawl" three times in a row? Listen more to find out....but the answer is yes in case you have a disorder where you need to know answers right away. We hear his song “The Love you Give Lasts Forever" in our Conference Room Sessions.

What's Up at the Belly Up this week features a trifecta of fun! Alyssa Jacey visiting from Nashville with the lovely singer songwriter Alyssa Jacey, Jamie Minotti of Madero Group and Alternative Power Productions and a sampling of beer from Director of Beer Education and Certified Cicerone Dave Adams with Green Flash Brewing! Jamie and D get it out in the air whether or not they hate each other, Meryl gets happily confused about beer terms and we hear a Conference Room Sessions song "Heart Breathe" from Alyssa!

What's Up at the Belly Up this week features JohnnySwim - Amanda Sudano and Abner Ramirez! This episode felt less like a recording and more like a hangout with friends which I guess is the point! Light cyber stalking does pay off folks - not only are these two a super successful musical duo but they are married with an adorable child. We talk about songwriting in Nashville, how the name JohnnySwim came about, and having nice manners. They played here on their Christmas Tour but Christmas is over. We drank Mexican Mules thank you to Beertender Brit.

What's Up at the Belly Up this week features Anuhea! She tells us about her Hawaiian roots and upbringing, singing the National Anthem at a Vikings game, spam (the food not the e-mail annoyance), things that make us cry, and if things happen for a reason or if it's just that we are idiots. We drank red wine! You can see her live at The Observatory North Park on March 3.

What's Up at the Belly Up this week features Steve Poltz! He is playing the Belly Up on Feb 20 for his 7th Annual Birthday Bash. We start off with a call from his agent in Australia, hear the best Michael Keaton story ever, hear how a bad reaction to pot led to a party for Steve Wozniak (co-founder of Apple), what stocks to invest in, and the positive side of his recent health scare. We hear not one, not three but TWO songs at the end! We drank mint tea.

What's Up at the Belly Up this week features Ryan Bingham! We hear his Conference Room Session song, "Nobody Knows My Trouble" and hear about how Ryan's voice is so damn great, touring with his dog, saddling horses, after parties, George Clooney and much more. We drank Modelo and it was Meryl's first one / definitely not her last.

What's Up at the Belly Up this week features one of our favorites - Billy Galewood who you also know as Bushwalla! Billy has since retired the name Bushwalla, and tells us why within this episode. We also talk about eating dog food, the need for crispy things, his very special birthday surprise at the Belly Up thrown by Jason Mraz and friends and his morning routine. There are many stories we don't finish - make the endings up for yo' fine self. We drank Green Juice.

This is what happens when our guest picks black coffee as their drink...three cups later and we must add a a disclaimer - if you are easily offended please use this time to garden your lawn or take Zumba classes - as it gets pretty strange on this one! We talk about GIFS, his new album KING KONG VOL. III, people that scream talk during concerts, donating plasma, shaving his beard to look like Elvis, sleeping with rats and things that happen to D while on tour with Santana's son. We hear a Conference Room Session with Bob with his song, "Sweet Booty".

We talk about podcasts that have gone awry, being lazy in an efficient way, the Princess Bride, fake ID's, Fela Kuti and so much more! We drank coffee stout out of wine glasses.

Whats Up at the Belly Up this week features radio personality Hilary from FM 94.9! She is one of the best on air talents anywhere and we are lucky enough to have her here in San Diego. We start out with...you guessed it...food allergy talk, straight into her past as a punk rock phone fox and all her crazy radio stories and jobs in between! This episode is our first PAP Smear segment as well...listen to understand. We drank Kombucha cuz we are pro-biotic!!

What's Up at the Belly Up this week features Rob Machado! Legendary surfer, environmental activist and musician, The Rob Machado Foundation Benefit is partnering once again with the Belly Up its annual benefit concert on November 9 featuring Matt Nathanson, Brett Dennen, Andrew Wessen and Timmy Curran. Through his foundation Machado seeks to reduce water pollution, waste, and preserve its wildlife. In this episode we talk about doing stuff that makes your knees shake, the roots of Machado ancestry, why we brand cattle, why time is irrelevant when you are recording with T Bone Burnett, and being a kid at heart. We drank Yerba Matte and we liked it a latte! 

What's Up at the Belly Up this week features Kiley and Erik of the band KI! We start off by hearing their song "She Knows", talk about their recent play at Kaaboo, the search of finding a bass player, and what's new for this energetic and entertaining band on the rise.
