Recently named as the 9th biggest selling label of 2022 on Beatport, Glasgow Underground has had another huge year with over 100 releases and multiple high-charting tracks in the weekly Beatport charts. Founded in 1997 by Scottish DJ Kevin McKay - who still runs the independent label today - Glasgow Underground has worked its way to becoming a go-to label for DJs looking for a big crowd-pleaser, and for artists who want to see their tracks released on one the most respected labels in house music. Some of the biggest names in the industry ranging from Claptone to Camelphat and Basement Jaxx have enjoyed success since the label was relaunched in 2011 and, if the quality of music from 2022 continues, the future is looking very good! Very few followers of Hot House Hours will be aware that the podcast was originally created back in 2015, with a small army of loyal supporters who helped spread the word with barely any of the social sharing tools we have today. Unfortunately the show was short-lived and had to be abandoned - but who knows how much bigger it could be today if it kept going! Because Episode 142 was brought forward in time for NYE celebrations, a gap was created in the schedule, but instead of filling it with a new techno, chillout or EDM set, Dave went off to find the original mix from the very first episode released in May 2015. It’s now been dusted off, made a bit louder (this didn’t cause the distortion on track 10) and added back to the feed! Heavily influenced by what Claptone was playing at the time, this was a bit of an adventurous mix with a 3 minute transition for tracks 4 and 5, bordering on a complete mashup! It’s been another amazing year for house music and trying to select the best tracks for an end-of-year mix is not an easy task!
