    Kansas has lost one of its most high-profile wrestling personalities.Joe Seay is a stand out in the history of wrestling in the state of Kansas. He was born in Oklahoma, but was raised in Wellington, Kansas where he graduated from Wellington High School in 1958. He won the 141-pound state championship during his senior year and went on to compete for Kansas State University.Seay was a successful high school coach in California before creating a nation power in NCAA Division II at Cal State Bakersfield. That success led him to Oklahoma State University, where he brought back to back NCAA titles to the Pokes in 1989 and 1990. He was at OSU from 1985-91. Seay went on to various coaching positions including with USA Wrestling national teams and at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.Coach Seay passed away yesterday at the age of 80.One of Seay's star recruits in the last 80s, Tony Purler remembers his former coach.
