Our podcast covering the season 6 finale of Mad Men is almost as long as the season was good.  So long, in fact, that I don’t even have time to write a fancy description for it.

Quality of Mercy? Let me tell you what the quality of mercy is. It’s not shooting a man in the face and it’s not keeping a gay man under your thumb and pretending you’re doing him a favor. The quality of mercy is finally posting a podcast at 1:30am on a weeknight after hours of recording, re-recording and editing. That, my friends, is the quality of mercy. And I’m feeling pretty damned merciful right now.

Is it really so impossible to imagine?  If a podcast took care of you, very good care of you… if this podcast would do anything for you, if your entertainment was its only thought, is it impossible that you might begin to feel something for it?  *knees move* *eyes narrow*  Well, how about we forget that happened and you give us one month’s pay toward our Kickstarter?

I’ve got it.  It’s the perfect pitch… It’s June in New York.  A man is wildly tapdancing in front of his boss.  A mysterious man named Ed knowingly shoots a man with a history of heart problems full of amphetamines.  The amphetamines are the desire in each of us to make a pass at Peggy.  And the tapdancing?  Fucked if I know!

What did you say to me?  That’s right, you said “I need a Mad Men podcast and only the Happy Hour will do”.  Now you’re going to undress and listen to this episode.  I don’t care that you’re at work.  You exist in your office for my pleasure.  You’ll listen to this podcast and stay where you are until I return with another.  If you’ve been paying attention, you can probably guess when that will be…  but you’re not allowed to guess.  This is over when I say it’s over.

What does it take to get Jim to do hours of research on the history of race in America?  A damned fine episode of Mad Men, that’s what.  And what does it take to get him to make dick jokes with his co-host for the last third of a podcast?  That same episode of Mad Men, apparently.

Come with me on a quick tour of the Pete Pit, what some consider the tenth circle of hell. On your left you’ll see Don “The Cheater” Draper.  Not only does he have the insolence to call his wife a whore, but he possesses the gall to immediately then sleep with his mistress. On your right, Pete “GLP” Campbell, the man who puts the “Grimy”, “Little” and “Pimp” in “Grimy Little Pimp”.  His heinous acts are well known and bear no repeating, beside being unfit for any audience. And in the center, Timmy “Ketchup” Jablonski.  We obviously don’t know much about him yet but unless you enjoy your ring finger doused in saliva like a ketchup-covered Oscar Mayer, you probably shouldn’t conduct your business with him.

The Coca-Cola of podcasts is back for another week of analysis, this time with even more off-putting characters.  We discuss how well Don compartmentalizes his affairs, dub Pete’s apartment in the city, and stumble through the 2nd circle of hell.

Dante would have you believe that there are 9 circles of hell.  With the help of Matt Weiner however, Jim and A.Ron have uncovered a 10th, even more heinous circle known as the two-and-a-half-hour podcast.  There’s plenty of discussion about Roger’s couch sessions, the cyclical nature of Don’s life and Stan’s glorious new beard.
