The Bucs had their first preseason game of the year against the Steelers and saw some up and down play from their backups, who got to start. It was a much better day for the Bucs' quarterbacks as they were way more accurate with the football. White had by far his best practice yet as both a blitzer and in coverage. The defense also did a great job getting to the quarterback often. Ryan Neal and Lavonte David both had sacks while Greg Gaines made some stops as well. After an offseason of family tragedy, Bucs outside linebacker Shaq Barrett spoke following training camp practice for the first time since his personal turmoil. Barrett spoke from the heart about how his family has coped with the loss and how football has been a welcoming distraction for him. During practice, full pads were on for the Bucs and we saw a lot of one-on-one battles. This included good reps for rookies Josh Hayes on defense and Trey Palmer on offense.
