  • Episode 1x02 & 1x03: "Earth Skills"/"Earth Kills"

    01/08/2016 Duración: 02h27min

Welcome back to Meta Station for the first of our S1 doubleheaders! HOLY BEJEESUS THIS ONE WAS A TECHNICAL NIGHTMARE, sorry it took us forever to get it uploaded and apologies in advance for any sound issues. Hopefully all the Wells and Jake will be worth it. MAN WE LOVE THOSE DUDES. Join us for an exciting adventure through our first show flashback, Erin’s mindblowing theory about Wells Jaha and invisible labor, the introduction of Raven, the tragedy of Charlotte, Kane and Abby squaring off in the Council meeting and kicking the Culling plot into high gear, and the show’s first steps toward a definitive shift away from CW teen drama. Get your tissues out, fam, because we had a LOT of feelings about Jake and Wells in this one. 0:00 – In Which Erin Legit Forgets How Old She Is 0:01 – In Which We Nostalgically Recollect Those Naïve Youthful Days When We Thought Kane Was the Asshole and Jaha Was the Good Guy 0:06 – In Which We Meet the Magnificent Raven Reyes 0:14 – Faith and Hope vs. 100 More Lives: Kane

  • Episode 1x01: "Pilot"

    15/07/2016 Duración: 02h22min

"WE'RE BACK, BITCHES!" --Octavia Blake (and also us) Welcome back to Meta Station for the launch of our hiatus S1-S2 rewatch! We're kicking off with the pilot, about which you will be unsurprised to learn that we had a LOT to say. Join us for a trip down memory lane to talk about all your late lamented faves - Wells! Finn! Jake! Callie! Shumway! HA HA JUST KIDDING NOBODY LIKES SHUMWAY - along with Ark politics, class structure, character development, leadership parallels on the Ark and the ground, why Jaha saving Abby actually makes him terrible, the tonal shift from "CW teen drama" to "dark dystopian sci-fi", the origin story of both our ships, why Wells is the greatest and Finn is the worst, the glorious majestic wonderfulness of the Griffin women, and how despite S1 taking a few episodes to really find its footing, the pilot works remarkably well as a pilot. ALSO! Stay tuned at the end because we have A VERY! SPECIAL! ANNOUNCEMENT! ABOUT! A THING! Claire's really bad at keeping secrets so WE'RE REAL

  • Episode 3x16: "Perverse Instantiation, Part II"

    29/05/2016 Duración: 01h51min

Welcome back to Meta Station for our VERY LAST episode recap of the season! Join us for a madcap romp through dueling A.I.’s, the triumphant return of Jonty, the Murphy/Abby duo we never knew we needed, a surprisingly satisfying closure to Bellamy’s arc, PLOT-RELEVANT ADULTS, the (real or not real? We’re not sure) return of Lexa and Becca, and Super-Genius Raven saving the day. Also, R.I.P. Pike. #neverforget 0:01 – “My Brain Is All Kinds of Awesome” – Our Only Beef With Raven Is That There Wasn’t Twelve More Hours of Her 0:12 – “Just Another Day On the Ground” – John Murphy, Grumpy and Reluctant Hero 0:30 – “I Know This World Can Suck, But At Least It’s Real” – Jasper, Monty and the Honest Ugliness of Grief 045 – “Only If They Get Past You” – Kane, Abby, and the Revolutionary Notion of Letting the Adults Actually Do Stuff In the Finale, THANKS BE TO GOD (also featuring a brief sidebar discussion about military ethics) 1:03 – “I Don’t Want That For You” – After the Hot Mess of 3A Bellamy, the Writers

  • Meta Station Presents: A Very Special Interview With Michael Beach!

    22/05/2016 Duración: 48min

We can’t believe this happened either, but we got to interview the completely delightful Mike Beach for a very special edition of Meta Station! Tune in to find out who his on-set drinking buddies were, how he approached the craft of creating Pike’s character, what got cut out of that Kane/Pike arrest scene that we missed, his arc over the course of the season, the ways editing shapes how we view a character, and how all the pieces of making a TV show fit together. Plus Claire nags him to post the rest of his behind-the-scenes photos and Erin asks him a question he’s never been asked in an interview before.

  • Episode 3x15: "Perverse Instantiation, Part I"

    16/05/2016 Duración: 02h07min

EXPLOSIONS AND STABBINGS AND TORTURE, OH MY! For real, fam, when was the last time an hour of television worked so hard to make you pass out from sheer hysterical panic? The reviews are in, and 100% of the hosts of this podcast describe “Perverse Instantiation, Part I” as “one of the most goddamn stress-inducing TV episodes of all time.” (Who are we kidding, next week will be worse, but Erin’s coming to Portland so at least we can huddle on the couch together and scream at each other in real time instead of two time zones apart via text.) With all our precious babies more or less in the same plot now, we decided to break this down by character instead of storyline. Murphamy made our hearts leap, Kindra will never die, Jonty is on the rocks, we’re OBSESSED with Roan, Abby literally destroyed us as human beings, Briller is so cute they’re probably doomed, the Blakes are rising, Ontari is getting whatever the exact opposite of a character development arc is, and the Bellarke subtext is becoming text so fast

  • Episode 3x14: "Red Sky at Morning"

    11/05/2016 Duración: 01h56min

Well hello, sailors! Welcome aboard a very special maritime edition of “Meta Station at Sea,” where an oceanic oil rig full of pacifist isolationists and their badass queen drop some much-needed truth bombs on our seafaring Adventure Squad. Meanwhile, back on dry land, Pindra is rising, we take a surprisingly metaphysical side trip into discussing the nature of human consciousness, and Monty has a big day. Also, join us for our newest segment, “Mystery or Plot Hole?”, where we try to figure out how the ever-living hell ALIE got onto the oil rig or found out Sinclair was dead. ANCHORS AWEIGH! (P.S. I had like nine other boat puns I could have used here and chose not to, YOU’RE WELCOME) 0:00 – Sailors, Take Warning 0:01 – INDRA’S PRISON RULES: Step 1, Make a Shiv. • Episode 3x10: "Fallen"

    11/04/2016 Duración: 01h55min

Welcome back, friends! A.L.I.E. apparently hacked into Erin’s wifi on Saturday night so we had some Skype issues; please forgive the handful of weird glitches where I had to edit out some messy sound. Fair warning, this is a lot less of a review and more like a meta. We had a lot of very complicated thoughts about what story the show may be trying to tell this season about morality, and how all of this week’s stories fit into it, so this is more of a discussion about ethical conundrums than a point-by-point recap.
